learn more about me

I’m a photographer based in Burlington, Vermont serving New England and beyond. I believe in quality over quantity and the profundity of quiet moments. A day doesn’t go by when I’m not awed by the world; that’s why I document. Time and light aligning just so to allow for a perfectly exposed photograph seems impossibly beautiful. The same could be said of your love story. The decades over which your ancestors migrated, the decisions, minute and colossal, that led to not only your existence, but to that moment in the laundry mat, on the train, in a college creative writing class, where you met your person, are incalculable. Love is nothing short of a miracle and now that you have made the decision to get married I’d be honored to document your day.

Working with Macaulay as our wedding photographer was an incredible experience from start to finish. His style is pure poetic storytelling—he truly understands photography in all its forms and brought our day to life in a way that feels both artistic and genuine. Macaulay has a documentary style that lets moments unfold naturally, and he has this amazing way of putting everyone at ease, making you feel like you’re with a friend. Nothing felt staged or forced, just organic and real.

On the creative side, he’s exactly who you want by your side. His passion for photography is unmatched; he lives and breathes his craft and genuinely cares about capturing moments that make you feel seen and happy. Beyond his artistry, he’s an absolute professional—timely, organized, and made getting access to our photos so easy. His editing is spot-on, capturing the energy and beauty of the day perfectly, and he’s a master with lighting and locations.

We couldn’t be happier with our experience and the beautiful photos we’ll treasure forever. If you’re looking for a talented, genuine artist who will bring warmth and joy to your big day, I couldn’t recommend Macaulay enough!

As soon as I came across Macaulay's website, I knew I wanted him to be our wedding photographer! His photos have such a documentarian, raw, and emotional quality to them — and was exactly what I was looking for. From start to finish, Macaulay was a pleasure to work with. He met with us to get to know us as a couple, and was very professional and communicative. On our wedding day, he was relaxed and made us feel like we were shooting photos with a friend. He struck a perfect balance between letting us propose places around the venue to photograph, but also had his own ideas to share with us. It was truly effortless. I was blown away by the beauty in our wedding photo album.

Working with Macaulay was an absolute dream. From our first Zoom meeting with him, we knew immediately that we’d found the perfect photographer. In a chaotic wedding industry, Macaulay is a beacon of calm and authenticity. We had so much fun at our engagement shoot, and Macaulay’s background in the arts came through in every shot. The day of our wedding, he arrived just as the timeline was ramping up, and his easygoing yet professional presence made all of us feel calmer. He is tremendously talented and tremendously likable, and I’d recommend him to anyone!

I’m a listener and observer. I’m a firm believer that the most stunning pieces of fiction the world over cannot compete with the beauty of the way things simply are. My goal is to make immersive images that transport you. Opening your wedding gallery should feel like stepping through an opening in time and finding your way back to a memory that unfolds before you. I’m drawn to soft light and natural tones, stillness and quiet moments. You can expect documentation of all the major events, from your euphoric first kiss to your wildest dance moves, as well as the smaller textural details that make your day unique.

When I first moved to Vermont for my undergrad, before I had even ever attended a wedding in my adult life, I spent years in a fine arts program studying documentary photography. At the time, I dreamed of shooting stories for publications and partnering with publishers to create my own photobooks. While I still maintain my own artistic practice, it wasn't until coming to Burlington and working with an established wedding photographer that my focus changed. I found immense purpose in creating images for couples and families. Images that will still be shared and cherished for decades to come. Early on, I had wrapped up a session for two friends who were newly dating when one of them expressed with awe "we're going to be able to look back on this day when we're 80." This felt profound then and continues to now. Getting to serve as an archive for those in love means the world to me.

When not behind the camera on a wedding day, I can usually be found behind the camera working on my own projects or in the editorial, commercial, and doc spaces. I've been lucky enough to have been featured in publications including Its Nice That, Brooklyn Vegan, and Booooooom and to include The New York Times, Das Magazin, and Google in my client list.
